Fire Cadets

The Orange City Fire Cadet Program is a hands-on program that exposes participants to many career experiences, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults choose a career path within fire and emergency services and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and country. The program is open to young men and women ages 14 (and completed the 8th grade) through 24 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the field of Fire and Emergency Services.

For more information please call (714) 288-2457 or email the Fire Cadet Program Coordinator.

Fire Reserve
Inspectors

The Fire Reserve Inspector Program is designed to give fire science students and fire academy graduates practical exposure to fire prevention duties. Volunteers work a minimum of eight hours per week, assisting fire safety specialists and hazardous materials specialists. During their volunteer hours, they get to know the fire inspectors on staff, increase the depth of their knowledge and experience, and learn to serve the public.

The Department accepts individuals pursuing any career in the fire service. Fire prevention and suppression personnel work toward one goal: lowering community risk. Knowing "the other side of the house" is important for all employees, especially those seeking careers in fire suppression, since many local fire agencies use suppression personnel to conduct fire inspections.
