Firefighters Battle Early Morning Garage Fire

Orange, California, December 27, 2022 – At 2:17 AM on December 27, 2022, Orange City Fire units responded to a reported residential structure fire on the 500 block of North Pageant Drive. Upon arrival, Orange Truck 2 found light smoke showing from a three-story apartment complex and initiated an investigation. During the investigation, Orange Truck 2 found a working garage fire beneath an apartment unit. Orange Truck 2 and Orange Engine 4 began attacking the fire and searching for potential victims. Orange Battalion 1 assumed command of the incident and assigned the remaining fire units on-scene to secure utilities, perform positive-pressure ventilation, and salvage and overhaul operations. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire before it could extend into the residences. The fire was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes.

Twenty fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from the Orange Police Department, Orange County Fire Authority, and SoCal Edison.  No firefighters or civilian injuries were reported.  The incident lasted two hours.  The fire’s cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
