Firefighters Quickly Contain Fire at Self Storage Facility

Orange, California, March 13, 2023 – At 1128 AM, Orange City Fire units responded to a reported automatic fire alarm at 157 N. Wayfield Street. Upon arrival, Orange Truck 2 reported nothing showing with the smell of smoke coming from a three-story self-storage facility and requested a first alarm. Orange Truck 2 went into investigation mode and began searching for the source of the smoke. Upon reaching the second floor of the structure, Orange Truck 2 reported smoke-filled hallway and transitioned into the attack mode. Orange Battalion 1 assumed command of the incident and assigned the remaining units on scene to secure a water supply, utilities, establish RIC (rapid intervention crew), perform ventilation, and salvage operations. The fire was knocked down in approximately fifteen minutes and was contained to a single unit.

Twenty-two personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Orange Police Department. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported. The incident lasted approximately two hours and forty-six minutes. The fire cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
