Firefighters Contain Duplex Fire Damage to Attached Garage

Orange California, December 26, 2023 – At 12:23 PM, Orange City Fire units responded to a report of a residential structure and vehicle fire at 824 South Ponderosa Street. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 1 found heavy fire showing from the garage of the one-story, duplex residence and declared a working fire. Orange Battalion 1 assumed command and began assigning tasks to arriving fire units. Orange Truck 2 performed vertical ventilation, while fire units verified fire extension conditions. Firefighters evacuated one resident, three cats, and one dog. Crews made forcible entry into the garage, took offensive, interior attack, and were able to knock down the fire within 15 minutes. Fire damage was limited to unit 824, attached garage. Orange Engine 1 proceeded with overhaul and salvage operations.

Thirty fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from the Orange County Fire Authority, and the Orange Police Department. Four residents and four animals were displaced. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. The incident lasted over 2 hours. The fire’s cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
