Firefighters Attack Pre-Dawn Blaze in Commercial Office Complex
Orange, California, May 31, 2024 - At 2:19 AM, Orange City Fire units responded to a reported working structure fire at 2445 West Chapman Avenue. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 5 reported finding a two-story commercial office center with smoke and heavy fire showing from a corner unit of the structure. Orange Engine 5 upgraded the assignment to a second alarm and quickly deployed large-diameter hose lines to the involved unit, initiating an aggressive fire attack. Orange Battalion 1 arrived on scene, assumed command of the incident, and began deploying firefighting forces to control the spread of the growing fire. The coordinated efforts of all the fire crews allowed for quick extinguishment of the fire, keeping it contained within the unit of involvement. Fire crews utilized aerial ladders and extensive overhaul efforts inside the structure, limiting potential damage to the surrounding units of the structure. The fire was knocked down in twenty-one minutes.
Forty-two fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Anaheim Fire and Rescue, The Orange County Fire Authority, and Orange Police Department. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported. The incident lasted approximately three hours and twenty-one minutes. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently under investigation.
