Firefighters Tackle a Two-Story Residential Fire with an Aggressive Attack Strategy

Orange, California, February 12, 2025 – At 12:54 PM, Orange City Fire units were dispatched to a reported fire at a residential property located at 704 West Palmyra Avenue. Upon their arrival at 12:58 PM, personnel from Orange Engine 5 noticed significant smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the two-story house, upgrading the incident to a working structure fire. The crew from Orange Engine 5 quickly deployed hose lines through the front entrance and began their firefighting efforts. Meanwhile, Orange Battalion 1 arrived on the scene, took command, and coordinated the positioning of additional fire companies to improve the firefighting strategy. Firefighters conducted a thorough search of the building's interior, confirming that all occupants had been safely evacuated. Reports of injuries among residents were relayed to Orange Battalion 1, leading to the immediate assignment of crews to provide medical assistance. Orange Truck 1 was assigned to the Ventilation Group, where they began setting up ladders for vertical ventilation. The collaboration between Orange Truck 1 and the Fire Attack teams was effective, resulting in the swift extinguishment of the fire.

In total, approximately 36 firefighters responded to the emergency, with assistance from the Orange County Fire Authority, the Orange Police Department, and the Red Cross. The fire displaced five adults and one child due to smoke and fire damage to their home. One civilian was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition due to smoke-related injuries, while no injuries were reported among the firefighting personnel. The incident lasted about three hours and forty minutes, and investigations into the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently underway.
