Firefighters Work Quickly Limiting Fire Damage to Home
Orange, California, March 11, 2025 – At 8:17 AM, Orange City Fire units responded to a reported residential structure fire at 3845 East Roberta Drive. Upon arrival at 8:22 AM, Orange Engine 4 reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the garage of a single-family residential structure. Orange Engine 4 upgraded the response to a working structure fire and began an aggressive offensive fire attack. Orange Battalion 1 assumed command of the incident and assigned the arriving units on-scene to secure utilities, perform ventilation, and salvage operations. Fire crews on the exterior of the home focused their efforts on preventing the fire from extending to the trees and bushes located next to the garage, while the interior crews worked to extinguish a well-involved fire that had consumed the garage and was starting to extend to the attic above the living space of the residence. Through coordinated efforts with the ventilation crews on the roof, fire attack crews managed to gain control over the stubborn blaze. Crews on the roof strategically cut ventilation holes in the roof, allowing the heat and smoke to escape the structure and limiting the spread of the fire. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire in approximately 30 minutes, limiting the damage to the home.
Thirty fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from the Orange County Fire Authority, Fullerton Fire Department, Orange Police Department, and Southern California Edison. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported. Five adults, one child, and two dogs were displaced from the fire. The incident spanned three hours and fifteen minutes, and investigations into the cause of the fire and damage estimates are currently ongoing.
