Firefighters Attack Pre-Dawn Garage Fire

Orange, California, December 13, 2025 – At 2:43 a.m., Orange Fire units responded to a reported structure fire at 4438 E Silverleaf Avenue. Upon arrival at 2:49, Orange Engine 4 reported finding a two-story single-family home with heavy smoke and fire showing. Orange Engine 4 assumed Fire Attack and passed Command to the next arriving unit. Orange Engine 4 and Rescue 4 began an aggressive fire attack with the goals of fire suppression and a primary search for potentially trapped residents. Orange Battalion 1 arrived, established Command, and upgraded the assignment to a working structure fire due to the large volume of smoke and fire. Orange Battalion 1 assigned Orange Truck 2 to Ventilation and advised them to coordinate their ventilation efforts with Orange Engine 4 Fire Attack. Orange Battalion 1 strategically deployed fire crews to assist with Fire Attack and assess the conditions of the structure. The aggressive fire attack quickly isolated the fire to the fully involved garage and prevented its spread into the rest of the structure. All residents and pets were confirmed to have evacuated the residence and were safely accounted for. Coordinated efforts of all the fire crews allowed for a quick extinguishment of the fire and kept it contained to the garage. The fire was knocked down in twenty-six minutes.

Thirty-one fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from The Orange County Fire Authority and the Orange Police Department. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported. The incident caused the displacement of two adults, two children, and one pet. The incident lasted approximately three hours. The fire’s cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
