Fire Quickly Tears Through Small Restaurant
At 11:24 pm on May 24, 2022, Orange Fire units responded to a reported commercial structure fire at 121 N. Lemon St. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 1 found smoke and fire showing from the rear of a single-story, commercial building. Orange Engine 1 swiftly pulled fire hose and began attacking the fire. Orange Battalion 1 took command of the fire and upgraded the incident to a working fire. Orange Light Force 1 was assigned to ventilate the building. The crew laddered the building and cut a large hole in the roof to expel the smoke and hot gases. The remaining fire crews shut down all utilities, checked for extension into the attic and adjacent structures, and performed salvage and overhaul operations. The fire was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes.
Twenty-five fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from the Orange County Fire Authority, the Orange Police Department, So. Cal Edison and Orange County Health. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. The incident lasted approximately three hours. The fire’s cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
