Quick Response and Coordinated Actions by Firefighters Limit Fire Damage
Orange, California, June 10, 2026 – At 01:36 AM Orange Fire units responded to a reported structure fire located on the 2000 block of North Batavia Street. The first arriving unit at 01:45 AM reported finding a working fire in a pallet yard with heavy fire threatening structures on the property. Orange Engine 3 upgraded the response to a working fire and quickly initiated a fire attack, focusing on exposure protection of the buildings to the south of the property. Orange Battalion 1 arrived, established "Batavia Command," upgraded the response to a second alarm, and systematically began assigning incoming units to critical tasks such as fire attack, water supply, and exposure protection. Orange Battalion 1 quickly recognized the need to increase manpower and upgraded the response to a third alarm with the goal of preventing the fire and intense heat from extending to the surrounding structures threatened by the fire. Crews surrounded the involved area and applied large hose streams and ladder pipes on the fire to combat the intense blaze. As the large volume of water was applied to the fire, conditions improved, allowing fire attack companies to achieve a fire knockdown in just one hour and 15 minutes after the initial dispatch.
Forty-six fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Anaheim Fire & Rescue, the Orange Police Department, Orange Public Works, and Southern California Edison. No injuries to civilians or fire personnel were reported. Units remained on scene for approximately eight hours to complete overhaul and salvage operations. The cause of the fire and the estimated financial loss remain under investigation.
