Quick Response by Firefighters Contains Residential Fire to Single Unit

Orange, California, April 28, 2023 – At 3:39 PM, Orange City Fire units responded to a reported residential structure fire at 2525 North Bourbon Street. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 3 reported finding a two-story multi-family residential complex, with smoke showing from the first and second floor of the involved unit. Orange Engine 3 upgraded the response to a working structure fire and began stretching lines to the front door of the involved unit aggressively attacking the fire. Orange Battalion1 arrived on scene and assumed command of the incident. Orange Truck1 was assigned to the Ventilation Group and coordinated ventilation needs with the Fire Attack crews. Orange Truck 1 crew laddered the roof and cut a large ventilation hole in the roof to expel the hot gases and smoke from the structure, allowing the interior firefighting crews to extinguish the fire, and stop it from extending into a common attic. The fire was knocked down in approximately thirty minutes and contained in a single unit.

Thirty fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Anaheim Fire and Rescue, Orange Police Department, Southern California Edison, and Orange County Animal Care. One civilian was reported injured and transported to a local area hospital for treatment. Two adults and two children were displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross. The incident lasted approximately four hours. The fire cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
