Quick Response by Firefighters Contains Vegetation Fire
Orange, California, July 11, 2023 – At 12:15 PM, Orange City Fire units responded to a report of a vegetation fire, in the area of East Santiago Canyon Road and East Lolita Street. Upon arrival, Orange Truck 2 reported sighting a vegetation fire located mid slope, on a hillside, having the potential to threaten homes located at the top of the hill. Orange Battalion 1 established Serrano Command and began directing air and ground resources to attack the fire. Crews on the ground quickly established a perimeter around the fire, and with the aid of fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, the fire was quickly extinguished. The fire was extinguished in approximately one hour and fifteen minutes and it was contained to approximately four acres. Crews will remain on the incident through the evening hours, working areas within the fire perimeter.
Approximately 31 fire units responded to the incident along with two fixed wing aircraft, and three helicopters. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Anaheim Fire and Rescue, Orange County Fire Authority, Cal Fire, Orange Police Department, and Orange County Parks. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported, and there were no structures damaged. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
