Firefighters Attack Pre-Dawn Blaze in Commercial Strip Center Stopping Fire Quickly
Orange California, February 1, 2024 – At 4:23 AM Orange Fire units responded to a reported structure fire at 1127 West Alvarez Avenue. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 1 reported finding a single-story commercial strip center with smoke and fire showing from one unit. Orange Engine 1 assumed the role of fire attack and quickly deployed a hose line to the front door of the involved unit initiating an aggressive offensive fire attack. Orange Battalion 1 assumed command of the incident and declared a second alarm. Orange Battalion 1 assigned Orange Truck 2 to Ventilation Group in addition to assigning additional units to support the fire attack operations. Coordinated efforts of all the fire crews allowed for quick extinguishment of the fire, keeping it contained to the unit of involvement, limiting the potential damage to the surrounding units of the structure. The fire was knocked down in thirty-five minutes.
Forty-four fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Anaheim Fire and Rescue, Orange County Fire Authority, and Orange Police Department. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported. The incident lasted approximately two hours and fifteen minutes. The fire’s cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
