Firefighters Stop Garage Fire Before It Spreads into Multi - family Units

Orange, California July 7, 2024 – At 11:15 AM Orange City Fire units responded to a reported residential structure fire, at 1044 North Grand Street. Upon arrival, Orange Truck 1 reported finding a well-established fire in the garage located at the front of a single-story residential structure and upgraded the response to a working structure fire. Orange Battalion 1 arrived and assumed the role of command, assigning Orange Truck 1 to Ventilation Group, and Orange Engine 3 to Fire Attack. Orange Battalion 1 confirmed that all residents were out of the home and began assigning the arriving units to perform salvage operations in the residence, secure utilities, and confirm that there was no extension of the fire to the residential portion of the structure. Fire Attack crews discovered the fire had extended into the attic and quickly coordinated their efforts with the ventilation group to stop the spread of the fire.

Approximately 27 firefighters arrived at the scene. The Orange City Fire Department was supported by Anaheim Fire and Rescue, the Orange Police Department, and Southern California Edison. Four individuals were forced to leave their homes because of smoke damage. There were no injuries reported among civilians or firefighters, and the incident lasted about two hours and forty minutes. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently being investigated.
