Firefighters Work Quickly and Limit Damage from Bedroom Blaze
Orange, California, September 3, 2024 - At 9:28 AM, Orange City Fire units responded to a reported residential structure fire at 362 North Earlham Street. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 4 reported smoke showing from the second floor of the residence. Orange Engine 4 upgraded the assignment to Working Structure Fire and assumed the role of Fire Attack. Orange Battalion 1 arrived and assumed the role of command, assigning Orange Truck 1 to Ventilation Group. Orange Truck 1 worked quickly to coordinate their efforts with Fire Attack to contain the fire and limit it’s spread. The fire was knocked down in 13 minutes and contained to the room of origin. Positive pressure ventilation techniques were utilized to clear the home of the remaining smoke and heat, allowing for extensive salvage and overhaul operations.
Twenty-six fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Orange County Fire Authority, Orange Police Department, Southern California Edison, and the American Red Cross. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported. Four adults and two children along with two cats were displaced and referred to the Red Cross. The incident lasted approximately 3 hours and 6 minutes. The fire’s cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
