Firefighters Attack a Second Alarm Blaze in a Neighborhood Market
Orange, California, November 19, 2024 – At 3:16 AM, Orange City Fire units were dispatched to a structure fire at 125 North Rancho Santiago Boulevard. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 4 reported smoke coming from the front eaves of a single-story retail strip center. The crew promptly escalated the situation to a working structure fire, deploying hose lines and initiating a fire attack after forcing entry. Orange Battalion 1 assumed command upon arrival and called for a second alarm response, assigning Orange Truck 2 to assist with ventilation efforts alongside Orange Engine 4. The truck crew proceeded to the roof to conduct vertical ventilation, which helped improve interior conditions and mitigate fire spread to adjacent businesses. Battalion 1 directed additional firefighting teams to secure utilities and carry out salvage operations, effectively limiting damage to the business's contents. The fire was knocked down within thirty-one minutes.
A total of forty-two fire personnel responded to the incident, with support from Anaheim Fire and Rescue, the Orange County Fire Authority, and the Orange Police Department. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among civilians or fire personnel. The incident spanned approximately four hours and twenty minutes, and investigations into the fire's cause and damage assessment are currently ongoing.
