FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Firefighters work aggressively to contain a structure fire in a storage facility in the early morning.
Orange California, July 23, 2025 – At 1:32 AM, Orange Fire units responded to a report of smoke in the area of Collins Avenue and Parker Street. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 5 reported heavy black smoke from the rear of a two-story storage facility located at 623 West Collins Avenue and upgraded the assignment to a working structure fire. Orange Engine 5 forced entry to the locked front gate, maneuvered into position on the north side of the structure, and assumed the role of fire attack. Orange Engine 5 Captain advised the incoming units of heavy fire and extreme heat conditions on the north side of the facility and the need for more resources. Orange Battalion 1 arrived on the scene, assuming command, upgraded the response to a second alarm, and began the task of assigning fire companies to combat the fire. Due to the size of the building and the heavy fire conditions that crews were experiencing, Orange Battalion 1 upgraded the fire to a third and eventually fourth alarm. The crews worked to combat the fire from all sides. At 2:29 AM, Orange Battalion 1 transitioned into a defensive mode, having all crews exit the roof and interior due to the deteriorating conditions of the structure. Fire crews were able to utilize large-bore elevated master streams from the aerial ladders to stop the forward progress of the fire, containing it to the north end of the involved structure.
Approximately 100 personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from Anaheim Fire and Rescue, the Orange County Fire Authority, and the Orange Police Department. No civilian or fire personnel injuries were reported, and the incident lasted six hours and thirty minutes. The fire’s cause and damage estimate are under investigation.
