Quick response and aggressive fire attack stops fire from extending into complex
Orange, California, January 11, 2026 – At approximately 11:45 PM, Orange City Fire units responded to a reported structure fire near the intersection of Palmyra and South Glassell Street. Upon arrival, Orange Engine 1 initially discovered a trash can on fire and moved quickly to extinguish it. However, while on the scene, crews identified a second fire burning within the carport of an adjacent two-story residential complex, with smoke and flames extending toward the second floor.
Engine 1 immediately upgraded the response to a second alarm and transitioned into fire attack and rescue operations. Orange Battalion 1 arrived shortly after to assume command of the incident, deploying additional fire crews to conduct evacuations and potential rescues. Firefighters quickly assessed the second-floor interior to determine the extent of smoke and fire spread while successfully clearing the building and ensuring residents were sheltered from the elements.
The coordinated efforts of all responding crews resulted in a rapid extinguishment of the blaze, keeping the fire contained to the exterior of the structure. The fire was officially knocked down in less than ten minutes. In total, 43 fire personnel responded to the scene, with the Orange City Fire Department receiving critical assistance from Anaheim Fire and Rescue, the Orange County Fire Authority, the Orange Police Department, and Southern California Edison.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or fire personnel during the incident, which lasted approximately one hour and thirty minutes. The cause of the fire and an estimate of the damage are currently under investigation.
