Firefighters Make Quick Work of a Bedroom Fire

Orange, California, November 22, 2022 – The Orange City Fire Department responded to a call of smoke showing from the rear of a residential home at 9:36 am this morning. Upon arrival at the 1900 block of W. Las Palmas CI, Orange Engine 1 found smoke showing from the eaves of a two-story, single-family home, declared a working fire, and stretched fire hose to the second story to attack the fire. Orange Battalion 1 took command of the fire and began assigning tasks to arriving fire units. Orange Truck 1 was assigned to perform vertical ventilation. The crew laddered the home and cut a large hole in the roof to expel the smoke and hot gases. Orange Truck 2 shut down utilities, while the remaining crews checked for fire extension into the attic and performed salvage and overhaul operations. The fire was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes.

Twenty-five fire personnel responded to the incident. The Orange City Fire Department received assistance from the Orange County Fire Authority, Anaheim Fire and Rescue, the Orange Police Department, and Orange City Code Enforcement. Four residents were displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.  The incident lasted approximately 4 hours. The fire’s cause and damage estimate is under investigation.
